FIRST INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT WITH A CHILD

This was not my son's first time riding a plane but it's his first time traveling out of the country. We booked our fight thru Philippine Airlines. Once your kid turned 2 and up he has to pay ticket already. Our destination was Singapore which is approximately 3hrs flight so you need to bring toys or save some videos in your phone (if the plane does not have minitabs) for them to play and be tamed. We went early in the Airport and my son was already active for 6AM flight so we played like run from each other and hide and seek because if I do that he'll get tired and sleep in the airplane while en route which happened and of which I am thankful.

Ryan does not want to bring the stroller because he thinks it was hassle and heavy but I insisted because I know my son, he always wants to be carried by me even if I told him to go to his papa he just want me. I cannot imagine myself roaming and walking in Singapore carrying my son for hours. It's so tiring and most of my friends who went there said that there's a lot of walking tour in Singapore. You can bring strollers and it will not be counted as baggage and you can take it to the Boarding area and hand it over to the airport staff before entering the plane. Stroller is very useful in travelling with a child. In Universal Studios Singapore you can rent a stroller if you need one but why not bring from Ph if you have so you can save. It's not much of a hassle because the streets are stroller friendly as well as their buses and trains that you can move you strollers in and out unlike in Philippines. It also keep your child safe while you walk around and also stop them from running away. You can also put things like you bags, water, etc it really offers us convenience and efficiency.

You also need to make sure you bring right amount of Milk and right quantity of diapers. My son is already potty trained but he needs to be assisted going to rest rooms. Most of the time in Singapore he uses diaper because I am not sure if rest rooms are always accessible and we move around a lot. When I checked that i might run out of diapers , in the last day when we were in Singapore Botanic Garden he only use diaper while taking a nap , then I just ask him to tell me if he's going to pee so we can go to the rest room. I opted to bring diapers because it's so expensive in Singapore.

For packing list, since Singapore has a warm weather I brought cotton shirts and sleeveless for my son. I always bring extra clothes for him in my backpack so he can change clothes after long hours of touring the City.

That would be all for now. I will be posting separate blog on our experiences in our trip to Singapore.

Mt. Gulugod Baboy: The Panoramic Peak

To satisfy my addiction to mountain climbling (at least on a monthly basis), I climb the Mt. Gulugod Baboy in Mabini Batangas last November 1, 2014 together with my highschool friend Riadin (which was here in Manila for her training) and his BF. It was all saints day, and only few hikers hit the road, perfect time to hike.

No pigs out there, only us. haha

This one is perfect for beginners that's why my friends did not exert much effort and we were so happy to reach the peak in an hour. I won't state details about the mountain because a lot of blogs already did and this is not a travel blog ;)

The Rush in Cagayan De Oro

Few days before my departure to CDO , my friends did not confirm yet if they're coming with me. I already made plan B for my solo trip. It could have been pretty amazing and fulfilling adventure.  But traveling with friends is more fun.  Fonzy and Kebs flight was an hour ahead so I stayed at the Laguindingan Airport for more than an hour. There are no seats , or waiting area in the airport so I just stand in front of the arrival gate and waited for them for hours (Patience is a virtue!). There were a lot of agencies who offered me transportation from the Airport to CDO for P250 only but thank God Kebs already contacted their Company in CDO for free pick up.

My First Major Hike: Mt. Tapulao

I still don't consider myself as a mountaineer. I think i need to level up and climb more and higher mountains. Not because I want to brag but because I want to know my limits and capabilities and I want to learn more. When a group of friends ask me to climb Mt. Tapulao which is a major climb (for me at least), I said yes without hesitations. Then I realized I am not yet ready for this climb. Just like when I climb Pulag, I am not prepared. But I am not the type of person who back out once I already committed to someone. And when you hike , all you really need is courage , good company, plus some jelly ace for trail food Haha.

So there I go, I challenged myself last August 30- September 1, 2013 to hike Mt, Tapulao, the tallest mountain in Zambales. To some it is just a minor hike but I really don't care about the difficulty level, I am after the experience, scenery, and learning. This is going to be a long post. :)

Gone Surfing: DIY Baler

I went to Baler, Aurora last weekend for another adventure with my friend Poulla. We didn't avail a package that include tours and accommodation instead we try a do it yourself trip.  It was my first time DIY trip and it was exciting.

En route: We departed Cubao QC via Genesis Transport at 1AM. That's the first departure time and the rate for ordinary air-conditioned bus is P450. It took us 6 hours to reach the town of Baler and from there we rode a tricycle for P15 to get to sabang beach. We headed first to our humble abode, The Secret Spot.

Home for the night: Secret Spot is owned and managed by Tita Rose, they have two private cottages which cost P1,500 per night and a Surfer's Hut for P250/night per person. We checked in to the surfer's hut since the private cottages were already occupied and it was an advantage for us since our accommodation budget was cut by P500. :)  We had the whole room since no other surfers came that day.  The secret spot is located at the southern part of the Sabang beach and it's quite far from the surfing spot. Good thing we were able to rent a bike as our means of transportation. haha You can contact Tita Rose at 0928-453 1777. And you can also avail a very sulit tour package in Baler with an accommodation in Secret Spot in Lakbaykaysaya Pilipinas (http://lakbaykaysayapilipinas.weebly.com/) .

Boracay: Sweet comeback

I've been dreaming of going back to Boracay for more than a year now so when I saw the Seat Sale on TigerAir without hesitation I booked for me and my two other sisters. :) It was my birthday gift for them.

Last time I was there, I enjoyed a lot but it's more of work and socials with my friends at work. Now I want to enjoy Boracay as Tourist. I want to experience water activities and its night life because it seems to be so exciting.

We arrived in Boracay July 14 and picked up by the travel agency. It's not cheap but it's hassle free after all. Next time I'll do it DIY way. :)

This one weekend trip made me fall in love again with the fine powdery white beach, diverse marine life, and hospitable people.  I can't wait to come back next year!

Helmet diving! There is so much pressure in it I thought my head's gonna explode. The helmet is so heavy! But of course before you go inside the water the guide will brief you on what to do and not to do. When we were down the water, we fed the colorful fishes which was the highlight of this activity. It was fun but scary at the same time thinking that water might get in you helmet, you can experience pain in your ears, and makes your heart beat. But the secret is to enjoy the scenery and do not panic. If you have heart and ear problems, i think you should not try this.

Dumaluan Beach Resort Review

When looking for an accommodation there will be certain things that we should consider. First is the, location, then the cost, size and facilities and the safety.

Since we availed a tour package from Jcass (see Panglao Island Post), we didn't get the privileged to choose the accommodation. Jcass booked us to Dumaluan Beach Resort, just in front of Dumaluan beach. :) I tried to search for the resort but could not find a descent reviews and pictures. So I decided to share my comments about the place.

Good news: The swimming pool is clean and heated, I had fun swimming there and it's in the center of the hotel thus easily accessible to all rooms. When it comes to room they are comfortable enough, clean and affordable. The food was awesome and delicious, you have a variety of choices and you will enjoy their complimentary breakfast. The location of the hotel was a perfect spot for relaxation because it's quiet, safe and clean. I also appreciate the friendly and incredibly helpful staff.

Bad news: Don't expect a 5 star accommodation though. They have a bath tab but it seems old and rusty. There was available refrigerator in the room but it was also rusty.  The Wifi is only available at the lobby and beach area. The food is pricey.

Panglao Island, Bohol - An escape to a slice of paradise

I decided to join my College friends in an out of town trip three weeks after I lost my job. Oh yes, I just lost my 5 months old job due to a confidential reason. I was so depress and I though I needed a rest. I've never been to Bohol and this time I don't want to hike, I want something refreshing, somewhere I could think and rest and meet other positive people.
