Boracay Engagement

Travel is just a dream for many workers with traditional jobs.  Luckily I choose a career where I get to travel to different places and one of these is Boracay.

Leave nothing but footprints.
THE PLACE

I went to Boracay via airphilippines which took me only 45 mins to get to Caticlan.  At the Caticlan Airport I was picked by Discovery Shores personnel together with the other hotel guests. Getting there: 45 minute flight from Manila to Caticlan...20 minutes outrigger boat ride from Caticlan jetty to Boracay...another van ride from Boracay port to White Beach (Discovery Shores).

Upon reaching the Hotel back entrance, I was welcomed by the Company Financial Controller then he asked the attendant to secure my baggage and we proceed to the Hotel restaurant for breakfast buffet. After which he toured me around the hotel and the beach front.  The first time I saw the beach , I was like OH MY GOD this is heaven!! I fell in love with the paradise I just saw.

Discovery shores is very stunning. I could say that this is the most wonderful hotel I’ve ever been. The hotel is located in Station 1: The station where big bets stay. Resorts and hotels here are far more expensive than in the other stations.

Discovering the shores.

My accommodation was a tricycle ride away from the hotel. It’s in Discovery Balay, the Company’s staff house. I occupied the vacant room in the manager’s area.  It was Sunday so I decided to went out in the afternoon to see the beach instead staying alone in my room. I did’t know where to go, I was not able to search for places due to my busy schedule. So what I did was go out and asked the guard where the nearest mall/store is.

D mall is the place; it’s near the beach, restaurants including fast food, stores and even a wall climbing area and clubs are located here. There is also D’talipapa if you want cheaper items, small restaurants, and a wet market.

Along the beach you'll see a lot of sandcastles.  If you go near one and take photos though, you'll have to leave a small tip for those who built it :).

The rest of the day was spent soaking up under the sun.

Priceless sunset view.

We ate dinner in Station 2 where you could buy the seafood you want to eat. You get to choose the quality and size of prawns, squid, or fish for your meal.

But you could just order what you want from their menu :) We chose the eat-all-you-can for P300.

We toured around the busiest station, the station 2. This station is where most of the visitors stay most of the time. There are loads of resorts, restaurants, eateries, the mall is here, bars and is it’s in the center of everything happening.

After work I like going or staying in Station 2 where I can eat different food (e.g. Halowich, red bean and pizza in Seabird) and buy some stuffs. Food is quite expensive if you eat at those fancy looking restaurants with buffets and seafood galore. Try the back of the mall where there are a couple of grills, or you can go for fast food at Andoks. Jonas Shake is also famous in Boracay for its’ unique shake flavors.

There are a couple of bars around stations 1-2-3. But mostly eateries, restaurants, and cafes are sprouted across white beach. Me and the DSB people enjoyed our nights in Club Paraw , Guilly’s Island and Lake Town located at the back of the hotel areas.

Walk around north to south, and for sure you will find a spot you like. Whether you are a romantic, the quiet type, or a party animal, there’s a place for everyone.

Getting around.

I went to Station 3 on my second weekend. This station is on the far south of the island.  Nothing much to do so I just wandered around.

THE CLIENT

Have you ever handled a client who seemed like a gift from above?! Well not on all aspect but near enough. My work was smoothly done because DSB Finance team was very cooperative. They are not just considered as clients but friends. They provided me things and documents I needed for the audit but sometimes it took them a while to gave my requests. I am a "makulet" auditor and had a lots of queries, but I know they understood that.

My association with them gave me  new opportunities to explore different people and places. I have vacationed with them, gone to party with them and met their family. I never viewed our time spent together as client relation. Instead, it was all about relationships and being a good friends.  I will never forget Ms. Marina, Lourdes, Q, Richell, and Phoebe.

My more than two weeks stay in Boracay was great and made me enjoy the beauty of the island. I really love the place and I promised that I would take my family there. They said more than two weeks in bora is long enough, well I say it’s not. I still want more of Boracay. After all I did go there not for vacation but for work. I’m just one lucky auditor.
