City of Pines and everything nice

Baguio is one of my favourite places in the Philippines. Imagine all these -- Clear blue morning skies, green surroundings, foggy afternoons, and fresh vegetables.  And because of the cold weather my hands rarely sweat.  The first time I landed Baguio was way back in high school for the DepEd National Leadership Training. That was an awesome experience, something I could never forget and since then I've been wanting to return. Good thing my high school friends from Samar decided to visit Luzon and I decided to tag along.

Getting there was roughly 6 hours riding a bus (Victory liner in Cubao) for P400. Then from baguio bus terminal we took a taxi to arrive at the Apartment in Camp Alley Subdivision. The apartment in Camp Alley was good for 8 pax P300/pax/night, with facilities like refrigerator, bed and blankets, table and chairs, plates and other utensils.  It’s just a 3-minute walk to Burnham Park and near other establishments. Transportation in baguio is not a problem since taxi cabs are plentiful and cheap, with P25 flagdown rate at that time and P1.5 per meter.

Itinerary: We went to the famous Burnham Park and paid 75 for a 30-minute boat ride. We tried the very sweet and tasty Strawberry Taho and wore the igorot costumes for picture taking which cost only P10 per picture taken.

Some people who visited baguio failed to go to Strawberry Farm, but we included that as one of our major itinerary and paid P250 for the picking.  Eating a warm strawberry you pick straight from the patch is a pleasurable thing to experience.

Our first strawberry picking.

Mines View Park is considered the most visited park. Of course, the view is not actually breathtaking as they claim, for me it is, uhm, okay. :) I enjoyed the cool air and humming of the wind.

The Mansion - It is dubbed as the MalacaƱang Palace of the north.

When talking about night life, baguio is at its best. If you want to party Nevada Square is the right place to go where various clubs, bars and restaurants are located in one place.

It’s my first time to try Shisha. Noticing our curiosity the waiter said, “You want to try shisha? We have strawberry flavor .”  (of course in tagalog.  So we did try it and my shisha doesn't seem to be smoking right. Well, just have fun and enjoy yourself, thats what its for.

We only had short time to tour the city but we had fun and I wish to return again. The climate, the people, the beautiful spots, the city itself are great.
