Peace Mural Painting

Dubbed as Lakbay para sa Kapayapaan sa EDSA or A Journey of Peace in EDSA, the series of peace mural paintings aim to be the longest peace mural in Asia and even the world and I happened to be part of that last May 26, 2013.

Last Saturday peace has become a celebration of vivid color. About 1,000 volunteers joined the said event. Mostly students and from organizations that promote peace. I learned this from my artist friend Karen. I'm so glad she invited me because I am really looking for something different to do.  Since I don't know what paint brush to buy, i bought a small one and found out that I should have brought a bigger one. hahaha anyway my brush was able to survive the work.

The call time was 6AM in EDSA Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo but the program started at 8AM already.  The sun was already out and hot when we started to paint and most of the paint colors were red. hahaha I was expecting to meet new friends but most of the volunteers were in groups and decided to take their own walls so we were not able to mingle with them, yeah its like "choose your wall policy" hahaha Even if you're not assigned to that wall, as long as no one is painting on it, go for it. :)  Also there were groupings and I was part of Blue Team No. 7.

Almost done :)
I put my name first hehehe :)
I don't know this person but I love the heart he made :)
The food was free! One of my favorite part! hahaha It's a binalot type food and the drink was an ice tea called Bayani Brew, all natural and all Filipino made food.  Both the adobo and ice tea taste great for me.  #proudpinoy

It was fun, I recommend you try it. Two more legs of the mural-painting activities are scheduled for June 15 and June 22. To join, visit http://www.ivolunteer.com.ph/projectedsa.
