The recent visit to Angeles, Pampanga led us to an unplanned visit to Subic since it was just an hour away. We just took the SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) route. Our plan were to visit a beach and the duty free stores.

Getting There |
While waiting for the Sun to set, we decided to shop and roam around the Freeport zone first. I love shopping. When I travel to places with known shopping area I would not want to miss the opportunity. Subic Bay Freeport Zone is a Philippine tax and duty-free zone similar to Hong Kong and Singapore. It's not my first time in Subic. I've been here last 2011 for an audit job and due to lack of time I was not able to shop around the zone. Don't miss duty free shopping when in Subic. We visited the Royal Duty Free, Pure Gold and other outlet stores.

The prices were not that far from the original currency prices. What I enjoyed bout shopping here was that they offer various grocery imported products that I've never seen or run into a retail stores in Manila. I bought Oreo packs (because I love oreo so much), chocolates, and Soya Milk recommended by Karen. It amaze us seeing the biggest Chupa Chups Lollipop and Mentos in Pure Gold Duty free. In an outlet store I bought my newly favorite pink Rider slipper.
Then it's time to go to the beach. We just went to a public beach since beaches and resort inside the Freeport Zone are pricey. The public beaches in Subic are ideal for lazying around with friends. We paid for an entrance fee and for the parking space, however, I forgot the figures, I even forgot the name of the beach. I should have blog this earlier when my memory was still fresh. haha The beach is clean and tidy, with facilities like beach huts, Nipa huts, picnic tables, and Volley ball court. There was no other activities for us at the beach so we just enjoyed soaking under the sun with wine , beer, and ruffles with sisig and a little bit of swimming.

As I've said this was not a planned trip and we did not explore much of Subic. I am planning to visit Subic next time for the Safari, treetop adventure and Ocean park. Hmmm gotta save for this.
We left Subic at around 8pm after we had our dinner at Puregold Chowking (because S&R was already closed hmmp). Carlo was tired and dizzy so we did everything just to keep him awake on the road, like singing so loud songs that were popular during our highschool days (stupid love for example) hahaha In fairness to them, they still memorize the lines. We arrived at Manila around 12 midnight. That was a tiring trip but I enjoyed so much because I am with this group of people.
